At the end of a busy month we have announced that on 30 November 2015 Huw Vaughan Thomas will step down as the chair of our Board. As of 1 December he will be succeeded by Sandra Verkuyten, one of our current Board members.

As of 1 December, Sandra Verkuyten OBE will be chair of our Board. She takes over from Huw Vaughan Thomas, the Auditor General for Wales.

Help us improve support for and assessment of Trainee Sign Language Interpreters

We have published a survey about support for and assessment of Trainee Sign Language Interpreters (TSLI). The deadline for responses is 5pm 6 January 2016.

NRCPD seeks statutory regulation

We have published a statement of intent to regulate communication and language professionals. Statutory regulation will protect the public by making it illegal for an unregistered interpreter for deafblind people, lipspeaker, notetaker, sign language interpreter, sign language translator or speech to text reporter to practise or use the title.

Our Board is getting ready to meet on 2 November. It will be the last meeting of our current chair, Huw Vaughan Thomas. The main agenda item is governance arrangements with Signature, which we'll be able to tell you more about soon. When we do, we'll also announce who will be taking Huw's place.
