NRCPD Staff

Following Kate Price's departure on maternity leave, we have recruited Heidi Doyle to cover the position of Registration Service Manager while Kate is away. You can contact Heidi at heidi.doyle@signature.org.uk.

NRCPD Board

During August we carried out an open recruitment process for three lay members for the Board (one of whom will be Chair). We will be reviewing the applications received this month and hope to appoint by the end of September.

In the meantime, Board member Liz Duncan will chair the next meeting of the Board which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 27 September.

National Occupation Standards for Interpreting

A review of the National Occupation Standards in Interpreting (NOSI) has been commissioned with a number of organisations contributing to the funding of this project. It is a number of years since the NOSI were reviewed and we are aiming, amongst other things, to address concerns that have been raised about perceived declining standards in interpreting. Instructus Skills are managing the reviewing of the standards and we expect the review to be completed by early 2017.

Upcoming meetings and events

We are meeting with the Practitioners Forum on 15 September in York. The NRCPD Director, Alan Peacock, will be attending the ASLI conference in Newcastle on 2 October where he will be giving a presentation on 'Statutory regulation: enhancing public protection and professional recognition'.
