CPD Policy Review

The CPD working group met in November, there were representatives from all of the professional associations attended the meeting which was chaired by a Board member. The meeting was very positive and resulted in several recommendations for improvements and changes to the current CPD policy. The working group will meet again in June to finalise the changes to the policy and to discuss an implementation plan and timeline.

Meetings

The Practitioners' Forum met on Thursday 28 March in York. The discussions included NRCPD's operational changes, the CPD review, fees and NRCPD engagement.

Our next Board meeting is on Tuesday 30 April 2019 in London.

Engagement

Over the past few months we have met with lots of our stakeholders including Sense, Royal Association of Deaf People, Heriot - Watt University, Deaf Action, BIVR, Clarion and Becoming Visible. We will continue to meet with organisations over the coming months.

We also attended the Deaf Scotland conference and the National Register of Public Service Interpreters conference (NRPSI) in February.

Easter Closing

The office will close at 4.30 pm on Thursday 18 April and reopen on Tuesday 23 April at 9.00 am.

Deaf Day

We are attending Deaf Day this year which takes place on Saturday 27 April at City Lit in London. Kate Price, Registration Service Manager is attending and will have a stand in the marketplace. This will be a good opportunity to meet with lots of people and raise awareness about NRCPD.

Routes to Registration

In January 2019 we approved Signature's new Level 6 Certificate in BSL as a recognised level 6 BSL qualification as part of a route to registration for Registered Sign Language Interpreter.

We are currently mapping two new interpreting qualifications against the revised (2017) National Occupational Standards in Interpreting as part of our re-mapping programme which will include all interpreting qualifications across all awarding bodies.
