Nature of Complaint |
Complainant raised concerns around a Registered Sign Language Interpreter. It was alleged that the Registrant was late for assignments, chatted to hearing staff, pressed for payment, demanded hours be added to paperwork, fraudulently added hours to AtW claims, contacted AtW without the Complainants permission and pushed for personal information from the Complainant such as (DOB, address etc.). Further allegations were made that the Registrant had discussed the Complainant/complaint with colleagues and other third party professionals. |
Summary |
Investigation conducted into potential breach of Section 1.1, 2.1, 6.1 and 6.2 of NRCPD's Code of Conduct. Various witness statements and character references were sought during the investigation. |
Outcome |
Case Examiners decided based on the evidence provided, that there was a realistic prospect of finding an impairment of fitness to practice in relation to Sections 1.1, 2.1, 6.1 and 6.2 of the NRCPD Code of Conduct, but that it was not in the public interest to refer this case to a Complaints Committee. The Case Examiners offered advice to the Registrant, and recommended professional accredited supervision for a minimum period of 6 months. The supervision was intended to enable the Registrant to review their professional practice in relation to management of services to Deaf people, and allow reflection and review on the aspects of practice related to this complaint. This recommendation was accepted by the Registrant. |
