CACDP t/a Signature and NRCPD have a new privacy policy which outlines how we manage and handle your data. This policy can be found here:
http://www.nrcpd.org.uk/documents/policies/PrivacyPolicy-2016-12-19.pdf
With effect from 1 January 2017, the registration fees have been increased by around 10% across the registers. The table below sets out the new fee amounts for each section of the registers. This is the first increase in the NRCPD registration fees since 2012.
As you will be aware, earlier last year it was agreed that NRCPD should start the transition to full independence as a regulatory body. During this transition period, NRCPD will need to put in place measures to ensure that it can operate independently from Signature as a sustainable business. We will need to cover the costs associated with the changes in governance that are required, in addition to the usual day to day running costs of the registers. In order to achieve full independence we will, like any other business or charitable organisation, need to have sufficient reserves in place to address any costs arising from unexpected incidents or events, such as lengthy and complex complaints and legal issues. This will not be achievable without the increase.

Thank you to those of you who completed the survey which was sent out in November. The deadline for the return of the completed survey was Monday 19 December, and the results are currently being collated for review. Instructus, the organisation conducting the review, has informed us that, of the 150 responses received, 44% were from sign language interpreting practitioners. 43% were received from spoken interpreting practitioners and 13% from organisations representing both (e.g. Universities). We will keep you updated on progress.
On 5 December, the NRCPD Director, Alan Peacock, attended Middlesex University and gave a presentation to around 40 Interpreting and Translation students on the role and work of the registers. The students were particularly interested in the varying roles and means of communication employed by professional registrants to support deaf and deafblind people, and the settings in which they work.
In February, the Director will be attending a workshop in Nottingham run by the British Deaf Association, to give an overview of the NRCPD and the registration process.
