Since we announced NRCPD's new status as an independent company in our February newsletter, we have received several enquiries seeking further clarification and detail.
NRCPD is now a separate and independent company, registered at Companies House and with the Charity Commission. It has its own bank account and its own budget, and all income generated by its activities are used wholly for the purpose of operating as an independent voluntary regulator. The staff who were employed by Signature to run NRCPD operations are now employed by NRCPD and not Signature. For the time being, NRCPD is a subsidiary company of Signature as a safeguard, until such a time as it has built up sufficient reserves in its own right to become fully independent. We need to have sufficient reserves in place to address any costs arising from unpredictable incidents or events, such as lengthy and complex complaints and legal issues which may arise.
There are currently 7 members of the NRCPD Board, three of whom are lay members, including the Chair. You can find biographies of each board member on our website at http://www.nrcpd.org.uk/board-members. As a result of the recruitment process last August/September, Hilary Maxwell-Hyslop joined the Board as a lay member in December. Liz Duncan took up the role of Chair in November. We are currently recruiting for another lay member to act as Honorary Treasurer https://www.parnglobal.com/current-vacancies/Honorary-Treasurer-NRCPD
Since the completion of the survey in December, the NOS Working Group has met on two occasions, to carry on the work of reviewing and agreeing the standards. The NOS Steering Group will be meeting on 24 March to discuss the revised NOS and to decide on the next steps. We will keep you posted on the outcome.
At its last meeting on 28 February, the Board considered representations NRCPD has received about practitioners having the appropriate skills and experience for carrying out work in specific settings and areas of practice. The Board asked that a general reminder should be included in this newsletter about the requirement in the Code of Conduct that registrants should only carry out work which is within the limits of their training, skills and experience; and that we will deal with formal complaints about registrants where it is alleged that they are in breach of this standard of the Code.
Registrants who have been randomly selected to take part in this year's audit have been sent an email notification advising what is required and that all evidence is to be submitted by Friday 12 May 2017.
Please direct any queries to heidi.doyle@nrcpd.org.uk or tori.raw@signature.org.uk
Please ensure all your contact information that we hold for you is up-to-date. Failure to update NRCPD of a change of address may mean we have to issue a duplicate badge for which there is a £25 charge.
