We have recently approved Wolverhampton University's MA Interpreting as a route to registration for Sign Language Interpreters and Sign Language Translators. The course is available from September 2018.
In preparation for the new standards, which will be implemented from 1 April 2018, we have revised the guidance for TSLIs, Supervisors and Endorsers.
The document contains important information for TSLIs and those involved in teaching, assessing and supervising TSLIs.
You can also read our news article explaining the new standards, which was published on 15 January 2018.
The Deafness Cognition and Language (DCAL) Research Centre, University College London is conducting research into BSL interpreter provision in the UK. The purpose of the survey is to gather data about what types of qualifications Registered Sign Language Interpreters have, and why they chose their qualification. DCAL are consulting with various interpreting organisations, and the results of this survey will be offered to them if the information might offer guidance on setting up new interpreter training programmes across the UK.
If you hold a BSL/English Interpreting qualification please take this survey. The survey will close on 20 April 2018.
Signature is developing some CPD courses for communication and language professionals. They are conducting a survey to help them understand what type of CPD communication and language professionals would like to see available.
We are attending Heriot-Watt University on Monday 26 March to talk to the final year interpreting students about Registration.
