NRCPD (the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind people) is a charity embarking on a period of important and positive organisational development as we head for full independence. Our purpose is to regulate on a voluntary basis those communications professionals working with d/Deaf and deafblind people and our registers are growing year on year with currently more than 1,400 registrants.
This is an exciting opportunity for a new Honorary Treasurer to join us on our journey. We have a strong and positive vision to improve and expand the service, foster awareness of the professions and maintain trusted standards of conduct and expertise that promote safe practise. We are looking for an Honorary Treasurer who can share that vision and help deliver our strategic plan here.
Our Honorary Treasurer will think strategically, have independent judgement and be able to work effectively as part of a team of committed Trustees to deliver a sustainable business.
As Treasurer you will be committed to the principles of effective governance and financial management in charities. You will have an accountancy or financial qualification, experience or awareness of charity accounting practice is preferable but not essential.
Applications from people who are D/deaf or have hearing loss are encouraged but this is not a requirement. NRCPD is committed to creating a diverse Board of Trustees and welcomes applications from all suitably experienced applicants.
As Treasurer, your role is to oversee NRCPD's financial matters, ensuring we use our resources effectively to achieve our strategic aims. In common with all Trustees, your role is to be collectively responsible as a Board Member for the business of the Charity generally. Your specific duties as Treasurer are:
You will be willing to meet the time commitments and to accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. There are four Board meetings and a strategy day per year, in London, plus preparation time (total around 7 days per year) and the initial term is four years. Trustees are eligible to be re-appointed for one additional term.
This is an unpaid voluntary role however all reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
