NRCPD are collaborating with the Deafness, Cognition and Language Research Centre (DCAL) at University College London (UCL) on Tuesday 22nd October 2019. NRCPD Director Marcus Hawthorn, DCAL Co-Director Manjula Patrick and DCAL Reasonable Adjustment Coordinator Sannah Gulamani will each be presenting.
Marcus will talk about NRCPD and our role as the national regulator in regulating communication professionals, such as BSL interpreters, lip-speakers, speech-to-text reporters, and BSL translators. He will also discuss NRCPD's plans for 2020.

Manjula and Sannah will be presenting DCAL as a case study with regards to how they recruit, use and work in partnership with NRCPD registered interpreters and speech-to-text reporters. They will also discuss their internal guidelines and communication policy with using BSL interpreters. Sannah will share her experiences of working with interpreters as a deaf person.

It will be of interest to those in the D/deaf sector, such as those with hearing loss, BSL students, trainee and registered BSL interpreters and other communication professionals. The venue is accessible to those with disabilities and there will be two NRCPD registered interpreters for the event.

It is also free to attend and if you would like to attend, please confirm your place using the EventBrite link below, so that we can monitor numbers (50 places maximum).

If you are coming and need any communication support in any way, please let us know as soon as possible.
