NRCPD Appoints New Trustees

10 February 2021

We are delighted to announce that Dawn Marshall and Richard MacQueen have been appointed Trustees of NRCPD.

Dawn has spent over 13 years as the Director of Becoming Visible, a leading Deaf-led organisation in the North-East that provides British Sign Language/English interpreting, translation, training, community activities and online streaming. Dawn says: "It is a testimony to NRCPD that it is committed to representation at Board Level from a wide range of stakeholders. I am absolutely thrilled to be working with fellow Trustees, staff, registrants, and the wider community to strengthen further, the NRCPD's links to the Deaf Community."

Richard has worked at Deaf Action for 4 years and is their Head of Video Production. Deaf Action is a charity based in Edinburgh and works to improve the quality and conditions of life for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. He has also worked for SignVideo and has previously been appointed the Chairman of Deaf Links. Richard says: "I am very happy to be joining the board at this time and am looking forward to being involved in NRCPD's ongoing work across the UK. It's really important that deaf, deafblind and hearing people receive the communication services they deserve, delivered at high standards by appropriately regulated language support professionals."

Well-known in the UK Deaf communities, they are both Deaf BSL users and bring impressive skills and experience that will strengthen the NRCPD Board team. We are looking forward to working with Dawn and Richard as we further develop our services and the professions, strengthen regulation and connect more closely with the Deaf communities across the UK.
